The Green Bay Packers were fortunate to get a win in Week 2 without QB Jordan Love. Malik Willis did what was necessary to help the Packers beat the Colts 16-10. A Packers defensive player just gave an interesting update on Love’s health ahead of Week 3.
Packers defensive end Xavier McKinney shared his thoughts on Jordan Love’s injury and when he could return to the team on Up & Adams with Kay Adams Friday.
“I’m not sure, I don’t really know what everybody’s talking about, but I know he’s worked hard and done his best to try to get here as soon as he can,” McKinney told Adams. “I feel like right now our job is to hold down the fort for him. He’s QB 1 and he’s the leader of our team, but we’re not rushing him. He knows that.”
Xavier McKinney says the Packers are in no rush to bring back Jordan Love despite all the stories circulating about his return.
“Yeah, we’re not rushing him and he’s not rushing,” McKinney added. “He’s going to take his time and he’s going to do what he has to do. We know that and we respect that.”
When Love was injured late in the Packers’ loss to the Eagles, it was thought he would be out for a few weeks. They’ve only played one game since then, and rumors of Love’s return are already spreading.
The speculation about this story could have been avoided if the Packers had placed Love on injured reserve. That way, fans and NFL reporters would have known that Love would miss four games no matter what.
Fortunately, McKinney and the Packers defense have held up so far. They have a good game this week against the struggling Titans. McKinney himself has two interceptions this season, one in each of his first two games.

“We’ll let him play until kickoff, 90 minutes,” LaFleur said.
Jordan Love suffered a medial collateral ligament sprain in a scary play in Week 1, which many believe could be a long-term injury. Instead, Love is expected to miss multiple weeks, though he clearly has a chance to play against the Titans.
As Xavier McKinney pointed out in the first half of this article, the Packers don’t seem to want to force Love back into the team. Malik Willis wasn’t a difference-maker, but he did guide the Packers to a Week 2 win over the Colts.
The Packers will put themselves in a great position if they can beat the Titans in Week 3.
