The Miami Dolphins head west for a Week 3 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday afternoon.
Here’s what you need to know:
When is the match?
Sunday’s game starts at 4:05 p.m. EST.
Where is the game?
The game will be played at Lumen Field in Seattle, Washington.
How can I watch the match?
If you live in Miami-Dade, Broward or Monroe County, WFOR-TV CBS 4 will broadcast the match from 4 p.m.
Who doesn’t wear a suit?
Receiver Grant DuBose was the only player ruled out, according to the Dolphins’ latest injury report of the week.
Veteran Raheem Mostert (chest) and rookie receiver Malik Washington (quadriceps) were both listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game. Mostert is unlikely to be sidelined as he continues to recover from what he considers a SC joint sprain and cartilage fracture.
“We’ll see with Raheem,” coach Mike McDaniel said Friday morning. “I’m an optimistic person, so I would say I’m pessimistic about his ability to play, which is telling, but I can’t rule it out.”
How important is Sunday’s match?
With Tua Tagovailoa out with a concussion, the Dolphins must turn to backup quarterback Skylar Thompson.
Sunday’s game will be his first start since his rookie year in 2022. His rookie stats weren’t necessarily inspiring — he completed 52 percent of his passes for 754 yards, two touchdowns and five interceptions — but everyone around the organization has preached that the former Kansas State quarterback has grown immensely.
“I think he really understands what he needs to do to be successful, he knows his teammates, he knows how to communicate with them and get to them. I think overall, you’re growing,” offensive coordinator Frank Smith said Thursday. “The hardest year for an NFL player is your rookie year.”
While a road game on the other side of the country may not be the most ideal way for the Dolphins to start their season without Tagovailoa, this part of the season is a little easier. The Dolphins’ next three opponents — the Seahawks, Tennessee Titans and New England Patriots — are not playoff contenders in 2023. For Thompson’s test to be considered a success, they’ll need to win at least two of three games before Tagovailoa returns in Week 8.
