THE Indianapolis Colts announcement On Tuesday, they made two additions to the practice squad, signing a pair of defensive linemen.
In order to make room for these two new players on the practice squad, two corresponding roster moves had to be made. The first was the addition of quarterback Jason Bean to the practice squad injured list.
The team’s second move was to release cornerback Kelvin Joseph, who had just been signed by the Colts two weeks ago.
Joseph was a former second-round pick of the Dallas Cowboys in the 2021 NFL Draft. He also spent time with Miami and Seattle.
Joseph has played in 31 games in his career, including seven as a starter. He has played 353 total defensive snaps, nearly all of which came as a boundary cornerback. The majority of his playing time came in the 2021 and 2022 seasons, where he has also been a key special teams contributor.
In coverage, Joseph allowed a 60 percent completion rate on 35 targets, giving up a hefty 15.0 yards per reception with four pass breakups, according to Focus on professional football.
Without Joseph, the Colts still have three cornerbacks on the practice squad in Gregory Junior, David Long and Jaylin Simpson.
On the 53-man roster, the depth of that unit continues to be tested with Kenny Moore and Dallis Flowers leaving Sunday’s game against Chicago late in the game. As of Monday, head coach Shane Steichen had no update on Moore.
