INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Colts will host a familiar AFC opponent in Indianapolis on Sunday, the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Steelers will face the Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium for the third consecutive season.
The Steelers have had an impressive start to the season. They enter Week 4 with an undefeated 3-0 record.
The Colts are coming off their first win of the season. Head coach Shane Steichen talked about the mindset he has for his team heading into the week.
“You have to prepare to win the game and have the will to win the game,” Steichen said. “But I think the preparation to win the game is the most important thing, but if you add the will to win, it becomes scary. But it all starts with the preparation during the week to get there on Sunday.”
Their defense has been one of the best in the NFL so far to start the season, allowing opponents to low-league 8.7 points per game.
TJ Watt, the 2021 NFL Defensive Player of the Year, is the anchor of their defense. He’s off to a hot start for the season, with three sacks and five tackles for loss.
“This guy is a phenomenal football player,” Steichen said. “He’s always around the ball. He’s got a relentless motor. He plays 100 mph every snap. So we have to have a plan for him.”
Historically, the Colts have had a tough time against the Steelers. Pittsburgh has a 27-7 head-to-head advantage over the Colts.
Last season, the Colts snapped an eight-game losing streak against the Steelers, their first win against them since 2008.
Now they will look to beat them for the second straight time, for the first time since 1968 and 1971, when the Colts were still in Baltimore.
The match is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
