Rob Ninkovich, the Patriots’ two-time Super Bowl champion, wants to see New England improve its coaching staff.
Which coach would Ninkovich choose for this cause? Brian Daboll.
Ninkovich reportedly wouldn’t want Daboll to replace Jerod Mayo, who is just four games into his head coaching tenure after succeeding Bill Belichick, but to join Mayo’s staff as New York’s offensive coordinator. -England.
For that to happen, the Patriots would have to part ways with current offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt and for things to really go south for Daboll with the New York Giants. And both of these possibilities are realistic.

“Go get Daboll? Bring him back? I like that,” Ninkovich said on a recent episode of “The Dan and Ninko show.” “He was my neighbor for years. He was our neighbor. He actually moved into Mayo’s house. I used to walk in there and he’d be like, “Look at all my offensive calls, my playbooks,” and I’d be like, “Wow, cool, impressive.” He had a bookshelf in his dining room and it was filled with game books. Man, I totally agree.”
Daboll’s time as head coach of the Giants appears to be on ice. He is 16-21 over two-plus seasons with New York and appears to be on track for a tough campaign with the Giants with a 1-3 start.
Daboll has an obvious connection to the Patriots after spending 11 seasons with the franchise over two stints. And his relationship with Mayo, as detailed by Ninkovich, could make his integration easier.
Daboll might also be a better candidate than Van Pelt, who has done little to impress while presiding this season over an anemic Patriots offense that ranks second-to-last in the NFL in points per game and last in yards per game , to develop Drake. Maye. Maye has similar traits to Bills star quarterback Josh Allen and Daboll is credited with helping Allen transform into a perennial MVP candidate during his four seasons with Buffalo.

If the Giants decide to move on from Daboll, it might be worth the Patriots contacting him. We already know Ninkovich would support his decision to hire him.
