The Philadelphia Eagles had a bye in Week 5, which came at a good time considering AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith were both still injured. However, it seems that they I will get the duo back for week 6.
Via James Palmer:
“It is my understanding that the Eagles expect their top WRs AJ Brown (hamstring) and DeVonta Smith (concussion) to return this week against the Browns.”
Brown has missed three straight games with a hamstring injury that occurred after a Week 1 win in Brazil against the Green Bay Packers. The Eagles are definitely being cautious with their best player who is crucial to this team’s success. In the season opener, Brown had five catches for 119 yards and a touchdown. Hamstring problems can also take some time to heal. By the time week 6 rolls around, it will have been over a month since his last outfit.
As for Smith, he suffered a major blow against the New Orleans Saints in Week 3 and was placed in the concussion protocol. The former Alabama star missed Week 4 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Smith’s role was greater with Brown’s absence, hauling in a team-high 21 receptions for 239 yards and a touchdown.

Philadelphia’s offense was extremely depleted without their top two WRs in Week 4 and it hurt them. The Eagles were crushed 33-16 by the Buccaneers, with quarterback Jalen Hurts producing just 158 passing yards. Saquon Barkley dominated on the ground but the passing game was nonexistent for the Birds.
At 2-2, Nick Sirianni’s team must start playing better. Picking up a pair of key offensive pieces should definitely help. Brown and Smith are two of the best players in the league. The Browns, their Week 6 opponent, are currently 1-4. The Eagles haven’t played in Cleveland since 2020, losing 22-17. Kickoff Sunday is set for 1 p.m. ET at Lincoln Financial Field in the City of Brotherly Love.
