It didn’t take too long for almost every team to suffer a loss this regular season. Just five weeks later, we’re down to two teams chasing the 1972 Miami Dolphins. The Kansas City Chiefs and Minnesota Vikings are the two remaining 5-0 teams in the NFL. When wondering which team will be the last undefeated, Minnesota is probably the best answer.
If the Vikings clear an upcoming hurdle, it’s possible they could make it to November undefeated. After a Week 6 bye, the Vikings host the Detroit Lions. It will be a tough challenge that could ultimately decide who wins the NFC North. If Minnesota wins? They have a series of later games in which they will be favored: against the Rams, against the Colts, against the Jaguars, against the Titans. While no game in the NFL is a gift, especially this season, it’s possible that if the Vikings get past the Lions, they could be 10-0 heading into the Nov. 24 game against the Bears.
The Chiefs’ upcoming schedule is much busier. After their week 6, their schedule has many challenges: with the 49ers, with the Raiders, against the Buccaneers, against the Broncos, with Bills. If they come out unscathed, they will have a period of time: against the Panthers, against the Raiders, against the Chargers and at the Browns until mid-December, but it will be a big challenge to get through their next five games without defeat.
Whichever team is last undefeated, they should both feel pretty lucky to get this far undefeated. No other team has done it. Here are the power rankings for Week 6 of the NFL season:
