A debilitating knee injury ended Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb’s 2023 season before it could even begin. Eight months after that injury, Chubb was back in his hometown doing things a man with that kind of injury shouldn’t be physically capable of doing.
In July, the Cleveland Browns tweeted a video of Chubb in his hometown of Cedartown, Georgia, casually squatting 540 pounds, not even a full year after rehabbing his knee.
Now, Chubb is getting closer and closer to his season debut.
Chubb is expected to make his return this weekend as the Browns host the Cincinnati Bengals in AFC North division action. Browns fans are probably hoping his return will spark something. Cleveland is just 1-5 on the year.
Seeing Chubb casually squat the 540 pounds and bar bend with all the weight on each end probably won’t shock anyone who saw him during his high school playing days.
Prior to his NFL career and a standout college career at Georgia, Chubb was one of the best high school players in the country. 247Sports ranked Chubb as a five-star prospect, No. 17 overall prospect, No. 4 running back and No. 1 player in Georgia for the 2014 class.
Chubb burst onto the national scene as a junior. That year, he totaled 2,721 yards and 38 touchdowns. The following year he was even better, throwing for 2,690 yards and 41 touchdowns. During his career, Chubb totaled 6,983 yards and 102 touchdowns.
