It was a bit of a surprise in the 2024 NFL Draft when Toledo cornerback Quinyon Mitchell fell to the 22nd overall pick to the Philadelphia Eagles, when he was expected to go as high as among the top 10 choices. So far, though, it’s been a match made in heaven for Mitchell and the Eagles, as the rookie has been one of the highest-rated corners in the league.
Eagles rookie CB Quinyon Mitchell in his first 6 NFL games:
▪️ 48.3 comp% allowed (14 rec on 29 targets)
▪️ 197 yards allowed (155 air yards, 42 YAC)
▪️0 TD allowed
▪️ Rating 70.6 QB allowed
▪️6 passes defended
▪️24 tackles / 2 missed tackles
▪️ 97% of snaps played🔥🔥🔥 pic.twitter.com/V1iQtGhDdk

Through Mitchell’s first 6 games of the season, he was impressive, stopping top receivers, including his fellow rookie star Malik Nabers. Quarterbacks threw Mitchell 29 times, but he allowed just 14 completions for just 197 yards through the air. When targeting Mitchell, quarterbacks this season are averaging an abysmal 70.6 rating and have yet to find a touchdown against him.
Mitchell played a big role in the secondary resurgence in Philadelphia and quickly established himself as one of, if not the best defensive back on the team. Mitchell’s physical style of play, length and instincts will serve him well as he develops and it’s scary to think about what he could become behind the Eagles’ ferocious defensive line.
