Week 8 is over and we had a week without power rankings as the Arizona Cardinals played Monday night and the postgame coverage was the center of attention.
But with the Minnesota Vikings losing two straight games, there’s a new number one.
As Week 9 begins, here are the latest power rankings with how they change from last time.
1. Detroit Lions (+4)
They just scored 52 points on just over 255 yards of offense. Whether the loss of Aidan Hutchinson will affect them down the road remains to be seen, but the offense is rolling.
2. Kansas City Chiefs (no changes)
They are undefeated and not playing their best football. It will surely happen soon.
3. Buffalo Bills (+6)
They have won three straight games and are headed to the AFC East title.
4. Atlanta Falcons (+2)
They stumbled against the Seahawks, but this offense continues with Kirk Cousins.
5. Houston Texans (-1)
Everyone in Houston is collectively holding their breath to learn more about Stefon Diggs.
6. Minnesota Vikings (-5)
Will they come back to earth? Are they on fraud alert? They have lost two games in a row.
7. Washington Commanders (+1)
All Jayden Daniels does is add to his tradition with this Hail Mary throw against the Bears. He has the commanders at the top of the NFC East.
8. Green Bay Packers (+2)
They’ve won four straight games, but Jordan Love could still miss some time.
9. Baltimore Ravens (-6)
They lost to the Browns?
10. Pittsburgh Steelers (+2)
They have won three in a row and Russell Wilson is 2-0. The offense looks good but could still be better in the red zone.
11. Philadelphia Eagles (+5)
RB Saquon Barkley has been so, so good. They have won three straight games. This looks like a two-team race in the NFC East.
12. San Francisco 49ers (-1)
Injuries and inconsistencies, but Christian McCaffrey could be back after the bye.
13. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-6)
Baker Mayfield throws touchdown passes at a high rate, but also turns the ball over. He’s starting to look more like Jameis Winston over the last two games.
14. Arizona Cardinals (+10)
They have won two in a row, three of four and are in first place in the NFC West.
15. Chicago Bears (-1)
The story coming out of Washington is that of Caleb Williams’ victory. It was now Jayden Daniels’ Hail Mary throw that gave the Commanders victory.
Even at 4-3, they sit in last place in their division.
16. Los Angeles Chargers (-3)
They made quick work of the Saints, but that didn’t impress many people.
17. Denver Broncos (-1)
Bo Nix just finished a big boy match. But it’s against the Panthers, so does that count?
18. Seattle Seahawks (+2)
They pulled off a surprise win over the Falcons in Week 7, but were throttled by the Bills. They have now lost four out of five after a 3-0 start to the season.
19. Miami Dolphins (+11)
They lost to the Cardinals, but the return of Tua Tagovailoa made this offense look good almost instantly.
20. Los Angeles Rams (+2)
Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp are back, and all they did was beat the Vikings by 10 points. That said, they remain the worst team in the NFC West.
21. Cincinnati Bengals (-4)
Philly made light work of the Bengals. Their defense has allowed 37 or more points in three of their last six games.
22. Cleveland Browns (+5)
So put Jameis Winston in, and the offense is suddenly good? It’s wild.
23. Dallas Cowboys (-4)
Will they get their act together in time to compete in the NFC East?
24. Jacksonville Jaguars (+5)
They held their own against the Packers and the offense is working. They have averaged 28 points per game in their last four games.
25. New York Jets (-7)
You can’t lose to the Pats and not expect to fall far.
26. New England Patriots (+6)
They beat the Jets but are still a bad team.
27. Indianapolis Colts (-4)
Anthony Richardson withdrew from the game on Sunday. The offense looks much better with Joe Flacco playing.
28. New York Giants (-3)
Tyrone Tracy looks good! He totaled 145 yards Monday night against the Steelers.
29. New Orleans Saints (-8)
No, Derek Carr means bad offense. They have now lost six games in a row.
30. Las Vegas Raiders (-2)
They showed some life against the Chiefs but still lost four games in a row.
31. Tennessee Titans (-5)
They gave up 52 to the Lions and lost three in a row.
32. Carolina Panthers (-1)
They solved nothing and lost six games in a row.
