THE Denver Broncos face back-to-back away games that will go a long way toward proving just how genuine this team is as a playoff threat. Facing the Baltimore Ravens And Kansas City Chiefs in rapid succession could ultimately pique national media interest, especially if the Broncos emerge victorious.
The Broncos and Ravens face off on Sunday and both are 5-3. Broncos Country can thank Vance Joseph’s defense for serving as a spearhead, as the team has won five of its last six games, while, in the AFC West, the Chiefs remain undefeated.
The national media may be sleeping on the Broncos defense as an elite difference-maker, but not on the legend of coach Bill Belichick. The former six-time world champion head coach analyzed the Broncos’ defensive strengths this week and commented on how they are “gaining ground on Kansas City,” which raised eyebrows around the league.
“Denver does a really good job defensively. They have good players. They plan their game well and they are pretty solid in all areas. They have a good front, good rushers. They are good at linebacker. They have some good players in the secondary, now that [Patrick] Surtain is back, and they are doing a good job offensively just playing good, smart football, not turning the ball over. We’ll see how they do against Lamar [Jackson] because they can hold their own in the running game with guys like [Zach] Allen and, you know, there are guys up front who are quite, quite formidable. SO. Denver seems to be starting to do that – I’m not saying they’ve caught up to Kansas City – but I think they’re gaining on Kansas City a little. They follow well”, Belichick said on the Football predictions.
It’s very interesting. The Broncos will face the Kansas City Chiefs for the first time in the Bo Nix era next week. And the Broncos obviously can’t afford to look past the Ravens.
Standing up to Baltimore’s generational power rusher, Derrick Henry, presents the Broncos’ defensive line with clear and present danger this Sunday. Belichick believes Zach Allen can hold the unit together and take on Henry, but it will take the entire rotation up front if the Broncos want to last 60 minutes in brutal close quarters.
Additionally, under Nix’s leadership, the Broncos offense will need to play mistake-free football, especially if this ambitious team wants to make a statement in Baltimore. In case you missed it, Nix looks like he’s determined to push the offensive envelope in the future.
“Well, that goes without saying,” Nix said earlier in the week. “You can’t turn the ball over. At the same time, as we talked about this week, you can’t sit on the ball and take a knee every play. Sometimes you’re going to put the ball in play and sometimes you’re going to They make a good play. They make a good play in the air. [or] they hit him… We know it’s important. We must eliminate [turnovers] and continue to gain margin on turnover. When we do this, we succeed. We just have to find ways to keep doing it. That has to be the most important thing.”
Nix was appointed NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month for October on Thursday, not only is he protecting the ball, but he’s now regularly putting it in the end zone. The speed with which Sean Payton put Nix in such a productive position offers proof of his unique acumen for developing quarterbacks at the elite level.
Belichick has made public his firm belief that this Broncos team is gradually closing the gap with the reigning Super Bowl champion Chiefs. It’s a nice little boost for Broncos Country, but when you watch how Payton checks every detail before hitting the road, you begin to understand why Belichick draws this expert conclusion.
“We talked about playing well at home, but ultimately to get where you want to go, the best teams can also travel and be successful,” Payton said this week. “We will go out [to Baltimore] Friday, later. There’s a time change on Sunday where the clocks… go backwards. Once again, it is [about] preparation, recovery and rest. This process has already started. »
