Lambeau’s wet field probably helped the Lions healthy play by slowing everyone down and allowing feet to get out of dangerous situations like with Jahmyr Gibbs. There were some minor issues related to the game, but the only one that was mentioned in Wednesday’s report was Jalen Reeves-Maybin.
Lots of other positive news this week as the Lions welcomed several players including Emmanuel Moseley, Ifetu Melifonwu and Za’Darius Smith.
The Texans had two very important players not practicing on Wednesday in Nico Collins and Will Anderson.
DETROIT LIONS
Jalen Reeves-Maybin LB Sleeve (NP)
What appeared to be a shoulder injury on the video is actually listed here as a neck injury. Most likely, it is simply a soft tissue strain. The most serious problem would be a spinal or nerve problem. It is reassuring that he was allowed to return to the game late for the onside kick, suggesting there were no signs of a spinal problem.
Malcolm Rodriguez LB (NP) ankle
Rodriguez suffered a sprained left ankle early in the Titans game and missed the final game. Although the sprain is apparently minor, the NP makes it unlikely we’ll see him again this weekend.
Illness of Josh Paschal DE (FP)
Paschal today gave clarification on the “disease” describing it as a non-cancerous mass in his shoulder that was excised. Excellent news that it is not linked to his melanoma from 2018. Paschal missed two games but is ready to start again this Sunday. No long term concerns here.
Emmanuel Moseley CB (FP) pec
Moseley tore his pectoral in August and is out all year. His 21-day training window opened Wednesday, allowing him to follow the 16-week timeline of CJ Gardner-Johnson’s torn pectoral from last year. Expect Moseley to be available around Thanksgiving.
Ifetu Melifonwu S (FP) ankle
Melifonwu has been out since the middle of the preseason due to a suspected Achilles issue. His 21-day training window opened today, which is a good sign that he will be available later this month.
Za’Darius Smith DE (NP) staff
Just acquired this week by the Browns, Smith could benefit from a personal bye week since the Browns had not yet had a bye and the Lions had. There’s nothing to worry about here even if he misses the game.
Knee Sione Vaki RB (FP)
Vaki injured his knee late in the game against the Titans and missed the final game. The video does not show the injury. The PF means he is recovered and ready to go.
Mekhi Wingo DT (FP) ankle
Wingo probably injured his ankle in practice last week and missed the last game. The MF confirms that the injury is minor and that he will be ready for Sunday.
Knee Brodric Martin DT (FP)
Martin enters the 2nd week of his 21-day training window recovering from a hyperextended right knee in August. Expect Martin to be out for the Texans game.
NOTABLES
Jameson Williams returns from his two-game suspension.
Jahmyr Gibbs was rolled up during a tackle last game, putting him at risk of spraining his left high ankle and hyperextending his right knee. Excellent news that he is completely absent from the report.
Carlton Davis he may have had a stinger in his right arm in the last match. Good news that he avoided any shoulder or pectoral injuries.
Penei Sewell appeared to suffer a mild right ankle sprain against the Packers, which wasn’t significant enough to put him on the report. No worries for Sunday.
HOUSTON TEXANS
Nico Collins WR (NP) hamstring
The Texans #1 WR was placed on IR after straining his hamstring in Week 5. Since hamstrings can easily become worse, a gradual return to play is advised. So, NP on Wednesday will most likely keep him out against the Lions.
Will Anderson DE (NP) ankle
On video, this star passer appeared to be suffering from a sprained left ankle during the last game. High ankles can have a longer recovery time than expected (see Micah Parsons), so there’s a good chance he’ll be out Sunday.
Shoulder Kenyon Green OG (NP)
This starting LG injured his shoulder in the last game and would be out for the year. Kendrick Green replaced him in the last game.
NOTABLES
Stefan DiggsWR, is out for the year with a right ACL.
Mario Edwardsrookie DT, is serving a suspension and is out for this game.
