The Dallas Cowboys gain Micah Parsons while they lose Dak Prescott.
Hours after it was announced that the Cowboys’ starting quarterback would undergo season-ending hamstring surgery, ESPN’s Todd Archer reported that Micah Parsons will return to the lineup this Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles after missing four games with a high ankle sprain.
Parsons was declared questionable for Friday’s game.
A healthy Parsons would be a major boon for a Cowboys defense thanks to the NFL’s 31st in points allowed per drive, 23rd in yards allowed per drive and 24th in sacks, although Parsons has been quiet ( by his standards) in his four games played this season. with 14 tackles and only one sack.
Parsons just earned his third straight All-Pro nod.
The Cowboys can only hope Parsons has something to save. Dallas is 3-5 and now faces the remainder of the season without Prescott, who is headed to injured reserve and will soon undergo surgery for a hamstring avulsion. Veteran backup Cooper Rush will take over instead.
Even with Parsons back, the Cowboys still have no shortage of injuries on defense. Pro Bowl cornerback DaRon Bland is still out with a foot injury, while his counterpart Trevon Diggs is doubtful for Sunday after missing Friday’s practice with a calf injury. Starting defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence remains on injured reserve.
