These are two teams going in opposite directions. The 2-8 Jaguars are once again without quarterback Trevor Lawrence, officially ruled out this weekend, as head coach Doug Pederson’s seat gets hotter and hotter. Former Bolles School and Alabama quarterback Mac Jones is expected to start in Lawrence’s place on Sunday.
The Lions, at 8-1, are currently on track for the No. 1 seed in the NFC, having defeated the Houston Texans last week in a Sunday Night Football game. Averaging 31.6 points per game, Detroit ranks second behind the Baltimore Ravens in terms of offense.

The Jaguars have many needs in the 2025 NFL Draft, including offensive line and defensive backs
The 2024 season did not go as planned The Jacksonville Jaguars had hoped for it. The defense is among the worst in the league, and even before the Jaguar After losing quarterback Trevor Lawrence to a shoulder injury, the offense was among the league’s worst performing. The only positive: If the Jaguars stay on this trajectory, they will get the first pick in the draft.
OK, that’s little consolation considering they had the top pick in 2021 and 2022. But given the Jaguars’ range of needs, the draft is the most economical way to get good, fast. –Tim Walters

Jaguars vs Lions Predictions
Demetrius Harvey, Florida Times-Union: Lions 35, Jaguars 14
“This could be the end of the Doug Pederson era. Trevor Lawrence won’t play, so there’s not much to write about.”
Gene Frenette, Florida Times-Union: Lions 30, Jaguars 13
“The last two opponents, the Minnesota Vikings and Philadelphia Eagles, did what they could to keep the Jags in the game. Detroit won’t be as generous.”
Pete Prisco, CBS Sports: Lions 38, Jaguars 10
“This has all the makings of a blowout. The Lions are at home after two road wins, while the lifeless Jaguars are on the road after two home losses. The Lions’ offense was down all week last, but the Jaguars defense is the perfect way to get back on track. It’s ugly.
