They say the third time is the charm. It is the hope of New Orleans Saints legendary offensive lineman Jahri Evans. The Pro Football Hall of Fame has released its annual list of semi-finalistsand Evans was one of 25 players to make the cut.
This is not unfamiliar territory for him. Evans has been a semi-finalist in each of the last three years, but did not make the final selection. He got closer with each attempt.
If the trend continues, this is the year Evans will be immortalized in Canton, Ohio. Evans was a semi-finalist on his first attempt. Last year, he made his way into the group of finalists. Perhaps adding the Saints Ring of Honor to his resume can tip the scales in his favor.
Three years seems like a long time, considering how long the other semi-finalists have waited. Torry Holt is making his 11th attempt to go from semifinalist to Canton enrollee.
Some of the new semifinalists who will make it more difficult for Evans are Luke Kuechly, Eli Manning and Adam Vinatieri.
