A few weeks ago, it seemed that the former quarter of the Green Bay Packers Aaron Rodgers superstar had several options for the 2025 season. It was linked to the Rams of Los Angeles, the Giants of New York, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Vikings of Minnesota, and it seemed to be controlled somewhat.
But one by one, these options have decreased. The Rams have chosen to stick to the veteran QB Matthew Stafford, and Tuesday, Russell Wilson decided to sign with the Giants.
The Vikings would also have decided not to prosecute Rodgers seriously, and it seemed to have been invested in JJ McCarthy, who missed all of his campaign in 2024 due to a meniscian injury under the center. But McCarthy said on “Up & Adams” that Minnesota did not tell him that he would be his QB1.
“And I am happy that they did not do it, because I try to win it every day. And I never want it to be given to me. It is such a privilege and an opportunity to give me this chance, and I will just enjoy it every day”, McCarthy said in the interview With the host Kay Adams.
In addition, a new report indicates that Rodgers told Vikings that they are its favorite destination.
“The quarter-back position remains evolving for the Vikings, who decided not to use the franchise label on the 2024 starter, Sam Darnold and watched a 100.5 million dollar contract over three years with the Seattle Seahawks”, ” wrote Kevin Seifert. “They tried to re-signal the veteran Daniel Jones, who spent the last six weeks of 2024 in their training team, but Jones opted for an agreement of one year worth $ 14 million with the Indianapolis colts, where he thought he would have a better chance of starting.
“The Minnesota then spent almost a week to discuss the possibility of adding the veteran Aaron Rodgers, who told Vikings that his preference was to sign with them, said sources.”
This is aligned with a report in athletics earlier this month which said that Rodgers “hoped” to sign with the Vikings, but that the decision to make him an offer could lie with head coach Kevin O’Connell.
If the Vikings indeed make a subject and turn to Rodgers, they have a lot of offensive weapons to twin with him, which would allow him to play in a very competitive team in what would probably be the last stop of his NFL career.
They went 14-3 last season with Darnold Under Center and arrived in a victory by obtaining the seeded in the NFC. They have the Large Elite Receiver Justin Jefferson, an excellent WR2 in Jordan Addison, a strong tight end to TJ Hochert and two solid half-cores in Aaron Jones and the newcomer Jordan Mason.
Jones, of course, was a Rodgers teammate in Green Bay for six seasons.
