March 27 (UPI) – The former security of the New England patriots, Matt Stevens, who won a Super Bowl with the franchise in 2002, died, his family announced. He was 51 years old.
Stevens family said in a necrology That Durham’s resident died on March 20, but did not provide the case of death. A commemorative service for Stevens will take place Friday in Chapel Hill, NC
Stevens played in the condition of the Appalachia before becoming a third round choice by the Buffalo Bills during the 1966 NFL draft. He also spent time with the Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Redskins and Houston Texans.

“Condolences at Friends and family Matt ALL-AMERICAN, the Super Bowl champion and the Member of the Temple of the Athletics of the State of the Super Bowl, Matt Stevens, said a statement from Appalachian State in a statement.
The veteran defensive back has totaled 301 combined plated, 17 defensive passes, 13 interceptions, six escaped recovery, four forced escaped and a bag in 108 career appearances.
Stevens totaled six career interceptions and eight defensive passes in 1999 while with Washington. He spent the 2003 campaign, his last season, with the Texans.
Four years later, Stevens was involved in a motorcycle accidentbroken the spinal cord and was paralyzed the size down.
He is survived by his daughter, Cassidie, and his son Colin.
