The 49ers did almost everything they could to keep the second -hand agent Dre Greenlaw this off -season.
Before the 27 -year -old finally signed a $ 35 million contract over three years with the Denver Broncos in the Free Agency, San Francisco visited the Star Seconds at his home in Texas earlier this offseason and even a Denver bid for Greenlaw ,, Luca Evans of Denver Post reported In a story on Sunday, citing sources with knowledge of the situation.
“General manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan, in fact, flew to Greenlaw’s home in Texas to register with him, said several sources with knowledge of the situation at the Denver Post,” wrote Evans.
“San Francisco, finally, had outbid the Broncos, who had perfected Greenlaw to reorganize the heart of their defense. But the brass of the 49ers only steal – and their offer increased only – after the Broncos had already come after Greenlaw, said sources.”
It is clear that the 49ers really wanted Greenlaw to come back, and Adam Schefter of ESPN reported on March 17 that San Francisco had even tried to blow up Greenlaw of the Broncos after being concluded with Denver.
However, after six seasons in the bay region, it seems that Greenlaw wanted a new start elsewhere and joined a solid broncos defense alongside the former teammate of the 49ers Talanoa Hufanga.
