Cincinnati – Bengals gave Trey Hendrickson permission to request an exchange last month, but he is still on the list.
Does that mean that they intend to keep it this season? Do they hope to sign it to a long-term extension?
Bengal executive vice-president Katie Blackburn answered several questions about Hendrickson’s future on Tuesday afternoon after the meetings of NFL owners in West Palm Beach, Florida.
“I want me to know with certainty what would happen. I would lie if I said that I knew exactly what was going to happen. Blackburn told journalists, including Kelsey Cincinnati conway conway. “We will just have to see how everything is going.”
Hendrickson led the NFL in bags with 17.5 last season. He has 35 bags in the past two years and has played the best football in his career. He was 30 years old in December, but is clearly one of the first passers -by in sport.
Why did the Bengals give him permission to ask for a job?
“While you try (put) all these pieces together, you finally have certain limits,” Black said. “He seemed to feel strongly on this subject, and thought that the force of interest was going to be at a certain level. And therefore, we said it would be normal to explore at least.
Translation: “It was a unique situation with one of our best players, but unless we have a big offer, we were never going to exchange it. This is not something we will do often.”
Bengals should not exchange Hendrickson. They never proposed the first round choice they were looking for. Even then, it is difficult to imagine the scenario where the Bengals of Cincinnati in 2025 are better without their defensive Star side.
A team that is in winning mode should try to sign Hendrickson to a new contract. It seems that it is their goal, but the NFL bag leader asks more than the Bengals want to pay – at least at the moment.
“He should be happy at certain rates that he may not think he would be happy”, ” Said Blackburn. “A game is on him to be happy at some point, and if he is not, that is what does it sometimes. He needs to say yes to something. We have all the respect in the world for him. He was a great player. We are happy to have him. And then maybe we will find a way to get something to work. We are just going to see where it’s going.”
Hendrickson should win $ 16 million in base salary this season after receiving a signing bonus of $ 5 million for the 2025 campaign earlier in his contract. The salary of $ 21 million is much lower than its market value.
The Rusher All-Pro Pass probably is looking for an extension of two or three years with important guarantees, especially after guys like Myles Garrett, Maxx Crosby and Danielle Hunter have all signed new contracts worth $ 35 million in average annual salary.
Bengals have time to conclude a long -term agreement with Hendrickson. If they do not plan to exchange it and it does not seem to do it, then they can take their time and conclude a long -term agreement after the draft of the NFL 2025.
If they are still open to Trading Hendrickson, the project is essentially a delay for this. Bengals will not exchange it for assets that they cannot use before next April. If they exchange Hendrickson, they would like a choice [or picks] in this year’s project.
The draft of the NFL 2025 is from April 24 to 26. Check The whole story of Conway here.
