It seems that a recent mover on the commercial market had a major interest in Houston’s Texans before finally finding another house elsewhere.
According to Insider Espn Brady HendersonDK Metcalf, the recent receiver recently exchanged, had the point of joining the Texans as one of his two initially privileged destinations, with the Los Angeles Chargers, but finally, was finally treated at Pittsburgh Steelers.
“Metcalf’s favorite landing points, according to several sources familiar with commercial negotiations, were the Texans and the Chargers,” wrote Henderson. “But his contractual situation complicated the question, because it meant that the Seahawks had to find a trading partner who not only would give them sufficient compensation in return but also be willing and capable of sign Metcalf to a new agreement.”
After the Developing needs of the Texans to the Large receiver entering this offseason with Stefon Diggs and Wounded Tank Dell, Metcalf’s services had a sense like a large target of a deep ball to twin with CJ Stroud as a spark at the offensive.
However, to conclude such an agreement, he had to have a financially meaningful meaning. And for the Texans, making the monetary situation that works reasonably, it was where the problems started to arise.
During the combination of massive money linked to list reservoirs to the Nico Collins contract, the historical agreement of Derek Stingley paid for this off -season, the acquisition of Christian Kirk, etc., there were simply too many mobile parts and wrapped funds in the receiver room, that the investment in the post did not yet make sense on paper.
Consequently, Metcalf has become a steeler, signing its $ 132 million agreement at four years in Pittsburgh. Perhaps the best result for Seattle’s Seahawks in their pursuit of the expedition of their star of stars, winning the 52nd choice for this year’s draft in exchange for its services.
The pairing of Stroud and Metcalf would have been inevitably fun to monitor for next season and from next season, but taking a step back to watch the state of Houston alignment this offseason, using this ceiling and the draft capital used on Wideout Star could be better used elsewhere.
Obviously, Nick Caserio and the Texans front office have also recognized this, actually swiveling to work on other needs and position groups for the coming season. It is always a difficult call to transmit a talent like Metcalf, but time will tell us if the daring decision is chargeable.
