The Baltimore Ravens were very lucky to have the stability of the front office throughout their existence, and that will probably not change anytime soon.
When Ozzie Newsome, who was the director general of Ravens since their inaugural season in 1996, resigned in 2018, he personally chose his protégé Eric Decosta to succeed him. The result was a transparent transition, Decosta still keeping the team in the running year after year.
Not that there was a chance that the ravens leave Decosta, but Gary Davenport de Bleacher Report The listed as one of the most secure directors in football, noting it at a 1/10 on its “hot seat counter”.
“Decosta was handpicked for Ozzie Newsome in Baltimore, taking over for the renown temple after more than 20 years in the organization of Ravens, including seven years as a newsome assistant,” wrote Davenport.
“The Ravens were unable to overcome the bump and enter the Super Bowl under Decosta, but the framework of the 2019 Sporting News Year led a franchise that has won at least 10 games in the last five of the last six seasons. The Ravens do not make reckless decisions, and it would take several years to miss the series of Decosta to be in Jeopardy.”
On almost all fronts, Decosta did an exceptional job by directing the Ravens. He struck most of his draft choices, he made very intelligent free agent signatures, and he always has an eye on the future while retaining a competitive team. No general crèche is perfect, but it is difficult to ask for much better than the work that Decosta has done.
As long as he is there, the ravens should be in very good hands.
