Green Bay, Wisconsin (WFRV) – Like the NFL project Prepares to highlight the future of football in Green Bay, the Brown County library shines on the past.

“It was certainly obvious that we had a great participation here to celebrate the miracle of Green Bay,” said Jeff Gilderson-Duwe, a specialist in local history at the Brown County Library. “It’s a miracle that the team is still there today.”
The banners are displayed in several places, including the library, the lawn of the courthouse and the associated bank. One Sue Wallen watch, which transformed the Astor hotel into a house for players in the 1940s. Another Travis Williams watch leading a fan bike to the training camp in 1969.
“There are six banners featuring people, places and key events in the history of packers,” said Gilderson-Duwe. “There have been several times when the packers have almost been financially part, but the members of the community have intensified, and we always have them with us today.”

The unveiling included old pom-pom-girls packers, packerettes, golden girls and sideliners.
“It was wonderful to have them here today,” said Gilderson-Duwe. “These are people from this community who have applauded packers as we all have.”
“Getting together with these young women, we are still young at heart, was a very special gift,” said Lynn Cisler, a 1978 touleur. “Seeing this whole story comes to life is very rewarding.”
Cisler said that Green Bay’s connection to packers is like nowhere else.
“The pride that we take in our community for packers is unprecedented. There is no packers season, it’s all year round here. ”

And although the main events of the project are near Lambeau, the library hopes that fans venture to the city center to explore the deeper history of the team.
“We hope people will come to the city center and discover this story, on the role of the city center in the history of packers,” said Gilderson-Duwe.
The miracle of the banners of Green Bay will remain exhibited in the spring.
