Tampa Bay’s Buccaneers raised everyone’s eyebrows when they selected the Ohio State Emeka Egbuka receiver in the first round of the NFL draft, with clear defensive needs for many.
But Egbuka was the choice, and he is now coming to Buccaneers with Baker Mayfield and a robust racing game that was one of the best in football last season.

For the choice of draft in the first round, a large part of the accent is put on what they do well, not what they are fighting, and for Egbuka, he is a real team football player and is not wanting to do the dirty work in the racing game.
Given the rise of Bucky Irving in his recruit season, we imagine that the BUCs will be a heavy team in 2025, which means blocking, something that Emeka knows that he must improve.
“Regarding improving at the next level, I think I am a very good and voluntary blocker,” Egbuka said. “I think that sometimes I tend to jump or come across or get excited about getting the block, so just having a better base, and continuing to work and stretch in this area.”

He is self -aware. The coaches will love this.

His talents as a receiver are undeniable (1,011 yards, 10 touched last season), but it is clear that now he is a Buccaneer, he will have to make a heaviness in the racing game, which is more than capable of doing.
Yes, it needs work, but the fact that Emeka knows it and is ready to work there will be music with Todd Bowles ears while recruit seeks to make a strong impression at the start of the offseason.
A receiver that likes the dirty blocking and helping job to set up the racing game does not meet too often, and Tampa Bay seems to have obtained a player who embodies exactly what Bowles is looking for in his players.
