Head coach Jim Harbaugh, is happy that Hampton joined his team before the 2025 NFL season.
“He is a player who can very well play the third,” said Harbaugh. “Give Justin someone to throw out of the rear field. He is also a very good passing protector. His game is really, really well balanced. He is a bigger back, 220 pounds, but can always run in 4,4 and, as I have already said, mark the ball. Just things that he is really good, and we are pulled to do it.
“It was something that was unanimous. You try to predict what will happen at each choice, and ultimately, we choose what we think is the best player available when the time comes to have our choice. And as Joe said, it is not something that has ever been divided on Mr. Hampton. If he is there at 22, it is someone that we are dismissed to get.”
In addition to the selection of Hampton in the first round of the NFL 2025 draft, the charges signed the veteran of the Najee Harris ball carrier as a free agent earlier this offseason. On Tuesday, the team also used the rare free agent offer without restriction on JK Dobbins – which means that the franchise has exclusive negotiation rights if it does not sign with another team before the training camp.
