Rico Dowdle, the 1,000 meters of the Dallas Cowboys in 2024, signed elsewhere in a free agency, opening the off -season with a move in Caroline.
Most thought that the organization would then wait to find its next potential starter at the start of the NFL draft, but the managing owner Jerry Jones inked two veterans as Insurance to Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders.

But since then …
On day 3 of the NFL 2025 draft, the Dallas cowboys obtained two prospects for a ball carrier in the fifth and seventh round. It is a lot for the delight of Cowboys Nation, which were rather insensitive to the signatures of free agents.
Dallas has selected Jaydon Blue from Texas (choice n ° 149) and Phil Mafah de Clemson (n ° 239), two perspectives of recovery with contrasting styles.
Speaking of new additions, head coach Brian Schottenheimer showed the optimism that Dallas found what he was looking for in the project from a point of view of physics and mentality.
When asked if one of the running backs written is capable of becoming the starter, Schottenheimer said: “I hope that if we would not have them.”

It is exciting to hear if you are a fan of blue or mafah, but it is also a brutal reality control for Williams and Sanders.
There is now a competition of four men in the training camp to see who will move away as the favorite to be the starter of the week 1. One of these four may also risk not listing 53 men.
Williams and Sanders can still have gas in the tank, but they are triggered from Dull Performances last season.
In Denver in 2024, Williams (who is only 25 years old, by the way) on only 513 yards while he was fighting to find where he settled in the Broncos offensive. This is his second full season when he showed the regression of his Recruit 2021 campaign which totaled more than 900 yards on the field.

Sanders, 27, has two more years of his experience to his credit – which understands being a starter in a Super Bowl with the Eagles of Philadelphia. However, his most recent action was two years old, with the Carolina Panthers where he only recorded an average of 318 yards per season.
With new houses in Dallas, the two have a lot to work if they want to return to the upper form … which is a form that would certainly help the Cowboys attack in 2025.
But … these two recruits also show a lot of promises and enthusiasm.
Blue comes to Dallas as one of the fastest runners in his draft class and Maafah, at 230 pounds, is a murderer with physical and contact competence which is certainly excited to Schotty.

“Thunder and Lightning”?
These styles complement each other well and have generated a lot of buzz with the fans of the cowboys – which establishes parallels with the memories of Ezekiel Elliott / Tony Pollard “Dine & Dash”.
So who will win the work? It remains a lot of time during the offseason to understand this.
Between more voluntary training sessions, the compulsory mini-cap, the OTAs and the training camp in California, there will be an animated competition to see who will order the most spans this season.
We imagine that Williams and Sanders are very motivated to win their place on the list as experienced players, but these remarks of their new coach are a punch that should bring them to the laser in front of the rest of the offseason.
