After a strange race with the New York Jets who finally finished without ceremony with a business with the Broncos of Denver, it is clear that Zach Wilson will be QB2 for the dolphins of Miami this fall after rarely saw the field for the team of Sean Payton last season.
On paper, it makes sense, right? Dolphins have already killed Tagovailoa under contract, and although he missed time last season with his growing brain problems, he remains the best dog in Miami in the foreseeable future. At best, Wilson is an upgrade on players like Tyler Huntley, who failed to do a lot when Tagovailoa could not play, with anything else for the young signal.
And yet, while discussing his future of the NFL with journalists, Wilson said he believes that he can be a starter at some point in the future, that is partly why he chose to sign with Miami in the first place.

“I always believe that I can be a starter in this league whenever this opportunity arises. And therefore I just try to put myself in the best situation with the best team and coaches and do the best I can,” said Wilson on Monday, via the Associated Press.
“What shouldn’t like? Extremely explosive offense. They are doing an excellent job, and it starts with coach McDaniel and goes down all along.
Asked what aspects of the game he would like to work on, Wilson has broken down, noting that he has several goals for the 2025 season, whatever the frequency he sees the field in the regular season.
“The treatment of the NFL, of the consciousness of the pocket, the ability to progress in a way in a way gently through my progressions and to take the ball out of my hands, and perhaps my understanding of the game,” noted Wilson. “I have the impression that I have been more and more improved since my first year in the league.”
Could Wilson be the next quarter of the companion to retain his potential and to become a certified starter on the whole line, following the rich tradition of the quarter of the jets rendered alongside Sam Darnold and Geno Smith? Only time will tell us, but after Darnold had a similar glow after a season with Kyle Shanahan, maybe Wilson will have similar experience under the former offensive coordinator of San Francisco 49ers in Miami.
