Matt Stevens spent three seasons with the Washington Redskins In the late 1990s. After Washington, Stevens landed with the New England Patriots, where he was part of the first Tom Brady Super Bowl championship team in 2001.
Stevens, 51, recently died at her home in North Carolina.

A choice of third round by the Buffalo Bills during the draft of the 1996 NFL, he spent a season there before landing with the Eagles of Philadelphia in 1997. He stayed with the Eagles in 1997, but was released in the middle of the 1998 season and signed by Washington. During his stay with the Redskins, Stevens appeared in 33 games, making five departures, recording 87 plated and seven interceptions. Stevens had six interceptions for the Redskins in 1999.
The Houston Texans then selected him during the 2002 expansion draft, where he has spent his last two NFL seasons. For his career, Stevens ended with 108 games played, including 42 departures, 301 plated and 13 career interceptions. Overall, Stevens played for five teams in total of eight NFL seasons.
Stevens was involved in a tragic motorcycle accident in 2007 which left him paralyzed the size. According to Eddie Maisonet III of The Houston ChronicleStevens resumed mobility in 2011.
In 2011, thanks to rehabilitation and specialized care, he resumed mobility with the help of specialized leg bifes.

Stevens leaves behind his parents, his brother and his two children.
