Dallas’ cowboys paid Jonathan Mingo in a business last year. Before that, they paid too much from Trey Lance.
Cowboys did not pay too much for Joe Milton III. Far from it.
There is a chance that we can look back Thursday as an important moment for cowboys, and how often can you say that about the acquisition of a player a year in the abolition of being a sixth round choice? The cowboys exchanged for Milton, the background quarter of the New England Patriots, only abandoning a choice of fifth round while recovering Milton and also a choice of seventh round.

Milton obtained everyone’s radar with his ridiculous arm talent and some views of the last pre-season, and an exciting performance of week 18 to end his recruit season. The Patriots have a quarter-Arrière, Drake Maye, so Milton was on the commercial block. Milton is always very raw and could never become a starter of the NFL. But physical talent is obvious. At least Maye does not have to worry about the threat of Milton, and the patriots do not have to hear about a quarter controversy, which is not a sufficient reason to give a unique young talent.
If Milton never plays for cowboys, it is not as if they abandoned a lot to play on Milton’s ability.
The patriots send Joe Milton III
The Patriots, who know something to make great choices of sixth round, should have been delighted with what they saw from Milton after having chosen it in the sixth round.

Milton was an exciting perspective coming out of Tennessee, but raw enough for him to fall into the project. The Patriots took him and he made intriguing games in pre-season. When the Patriots gave him to the major part of a week 18 against the Buffalo Bills, Milton went 22 out of 29 for 241 yards and a hit in a victory of the Patriots. It was against the backup of Bills because they rested for the playoffs, but the promise that Milton showed in the last match of his recruit season was notable.
And the patriots abandoned this for an exchange of late recovery choice. It is surprising that the Patriots did not get more, or wait longer on a player who was one year in a recruit contract of $ 4.2 million over four years. New England has signed Joshua Dobbs, who will be their regular veteran safeguard that will not threaten Maye, but the avoidance of all controversy of the quarter-back fed by fans or the media with Milton was probably not worth it to be given for a barely more return than you have not invested (and probably even less a return when you have the case in the seventh round in the first place).
It is difficult to see that it is a bad deal for cowboys, no matter how Milton is developing.

Cowboys bring a new backup QB
The Cowboys invite the controversy of the quarter-tree which the patriots no longer have to worry. If Dak Prescott is struggling, there will be those who want to see Milton, especially if he plays well in pre-season. It is inevitable, even if it will be wrong.

It seems to be a small drawback to a business that has a hard -hitting advantage.
If Milton does not work for cowboys, returning from the fifth round to the seventh is very, very unlikely to haunt Dallas. The difference in this movement is not nothing, but that will not change a franchise. If Milton can continue to develop and adapt to the NFL game, and if what we have seen in the Bills game can be postponed as it matures, it can have an impact on a franchise. The chances are not great that Milton became a high-end quarter-Arrière, but the cowboys do not pay much to discover it.
The cowboys leave with an interesting young quarterly while abandoning relatively nothing for him, including a contract that has no ceiling of more than $ 1.24 million in the next three years. Dallas invites criticism with many of his movements, but it is difficult to find the fault with this one.
