Third and last part of a Miami Dolphins on Si Mailbag:
DF:
With all the uncertainty around this team at the moment, should the Dolphins seek to descend into the draft to possibly accumulate more choices?
They should not because of uncertainty, but rather because they need volume to help reconstruct the list. As explained previously, the declining exchange is always easier to say than to do because you must find a trading partner.
By Lloyd Heilbrunn:
Another team of the League has hemorrracts as much talent as the Dolphins since 2023? And people talk about exchanging their best player …
Hey Lloyd, It is a good point that you underline on the talent that the dolphins have lost, as well as the eagerness of certain fans to want to pass from Hill. Yes, there could be an addition by subtraction, but it would be painful despite everything the most talented player on the list.
By Ohio Jon:
Not that it is a sure thing that dolphins become at 13, but, if Mason Graham and Kenneth Grant are both, what is the final decisive factor in whom to take? Bonus: Would you go to 13 years?
Hey Jon, I think that my first choice at 13 would be the corner, but I would agree with a DT. The choice between Graham and Grant would come down to the floor compared to the ceiling, but I think there is a reason why Graham is universally considered to be the best perspective and is that it is a very low risk perspective which seems to be a lock at least very good in the NFL.
From Miami Dolphins MXC:
Is Wright ready to be the RB2? Or do we need someone else there?
It is an excellent question and impossible to answer from the outside. Based only on the action of the game, there are absolutely reasons of concern Because Wright had 26 races for 41 derisory yards in the last nine games. Now, of course, the locking in the front was not great, but Wright did not do much to help the cause or to give a lot of confidence that he can be a solid number 2 behind De’Von Achane.
By Jason Kirkland:
In my humble opinion, there is no need to bring Hill back. Whether it is all the distractions, the effect he will have on a cloakroom with 2 less leaders, any future drama, there is this: from the last 5 to 7 games of 2023, this offense has not been good. Maybe 10th east with him. Your thoughts?
Hey Jason, I totally receive the addition by the angle of subtraction, but I would also say that he is the best player of the team, you will probably not be able to get much of him, and if he is just next season, he can make the difference between being 10th in the east and making the playoffs. It is a real dilemma.
By Brian Dougherty:
To what extent have Armstead’s retreat and have Campbell’s departure to see with their opinion on the culture / structure of Dolphins? Does Miami have a Cleveland Browns / Ny Jets type around the league and among the players?
Hey Brian, the retreat of Armstead had to do with his body (in particular his knees) giving it and I cannot speak to What type of factor the culture / structure of Miami was in Campbell’s decision to return to Arizona. If the dolphins have an image problem around the NFL, it is also attenuated by working conditions, those which earn the rights of the players of the NFLPA survey.
By Richard Hulme:
Is there an argument to say that getting rid of Tyreek really protects, especially MCD, from the hot seat. You have a bad season with Tyreek, you had a star player to get results. To get rid would be a way to say that we reset, and the results of this season become less relevant?
Hey Richard, the Dolphins want to win. If they exchange a hill, it will not be to give themselves an excuse to fail, it will be because they are better without him.
Of James Bond:
# 1 What is the substantive goal this season to Grier and McDaniel to keep their jobs? # 2 If they fall from a match of this goal, was Tua out with Grier and McDaniel?
Hey James, it’s going to be a lame response, but I think the net objective is that the team goes in the right direction at the end of the year. I do not think you can summarize them to the playoffs or the bust, or it must be 10 victories. It will be, there is a reason to think that there is hope in 2026 if everyone returns. And for the second question, Tua has $ 54 million guaranteed in 2026, so I cannot imagine that the Dolphins wear this kind of dead space on their ceiling. The 2027 off -season would be when the dolphins make this movement if it came.
By Jason Adams:
Stephen Ross wanted Lamar Jackson in the draft, but Grier did not do it. Ross met Tom Brady on a yacht and we lost a choice of draft on it. Do you think Ross will intervene and make the Draft Sheder Sanders if he falls in Miami at 13? Especially since Grier is linked to Tua.
Hey Jason, I think the chances that it happens would be extraordinarily small. I also do not know how many appetites in the signing of Sanders or any QB to a first round contract given the amount of TU in the next two years.
CAGEYVET:
Why does he not push Tua to be abolished forever as soon as possible? We cannot move forward with him.
What do you want me to do? Look, I was very clear and consistent with my opinion that the dolphins should not give TUA a contract extension and should have played it on the fifth year option, but this ship has sailed and now the Dolphins can only move on if they are ready to absorb a massive cap. For example, the dolphins would take a ceiling of $ 137.6 million if they reduced Tua now, or 112.4 million dollars if they made a post-June designation. So, does not happen. Now, a business would cause minimum ceiling pain, but dolphins should find another quarter-back leaving. Nor do I know how many teams would make an offer for a QB with a guaranteed basic salary of $ 40 million next year with a history of problematic injury. And the essential in all this is that Mike McDaniel is essentially married to Tua and that I do not see a scenario where he would disconnect from him. So what is the point of defending anything. There is really no decision to make for the moment. There was last summer and I clarified my thoughts on the issue.
