The Eagles will have a new right guard next season after Mekhi Becton is a free agency to sign with Los Angeles loaders. But his departure did not prevent one of his former coaches from talking about him.
The Eagles offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland was at Aronimirk Golf Club in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania, for an event where 6ABC Sports Reporter Reporter Jason Dumas asked him out of Becton.
“It’s soft-amer,” Stoutland told Dumas. “I am happy for him. He deserves what he gets financially, so I am happy for him and his family. I am sad to see him.
Becton agreed with an agreement of $ 20 million over two years with the charge in March. He signed a one -year agreement with the Eagles Last off -season after leaving the jets, the team which selected him 11th in the general classification of 2020, following a disappointing mandate. Becton had to change position – from the offensive tackle to the guard – when he joined Phildelphia. And he excelled.
According to Professional football focusBecton granted three bags in the first four games of the season. After adapting to the position, he only granted two bags in the last 15 games, both in the victory of the divisional series against the Rams of Los Angeles. He did not allow a bag in the Super Bowl LVII against the Chiefs of Kansas City, despite a knee injury that harassed him throughout the season.
The Eagles should organize a competition for a new right guard, with Kenyon Green and Tyler Steen among the lines that could play between Center Cam Jurgens and Right Tackle Lane Johnson.
