The Houston Texans re-signed the winger tight Irv Smith Jr. On a one -year agreement. Smith Jr. spent most of the 2024 season in the Texans training team before promoting the active list in December.
Smith Jr. had an isolated reception for the Texans in the 2024-25 season, which came against the Chiefs of Kansas City during the divisional tour.
Smith Jr. will probably be the third or the fourth tight end for Houston, but has shown flashes with other organizations.
He had 18 receptions for 115 yards and a hit with the Bengals of Cincinnati during the 2023 season before joining the Texans.
The 26 -year -old fought injuries throughout his career, but is a solid player for Houston. Stroud and the Texans offensive could use as many potential weapons as possible after losing Stefon Diggs in a free agency.
Houston will also start the season without the broad receiver Dell, while he recovers a horrible knee injury.
They added the wide receiver Christian Kirk in a trade with the Jacksonville jaguars, but could use more talents around Stroud.
While Smith Jr. will not be a star for the Texans, signing it in an agreement of one year to add depth in the tight room is a wise decision of the general manager Nick Caserio.
