Simmons has become the ninth offensive tackle selected by the Chiefs in the first round. He is theoretically offensive in redicting of Ohio State by the club and the first offensive tackle written in the first round since Ter Eric Fisher (1st in total, draft of NFL 2013).

This marks the 22nd selection in the first round in the career of head coach Andy Reid. The selection of T Josh Simmons marks the second time that a Coached Reid team selected an offensive tackle during the first round of the NFL draft with Simmons joining Ter Eric Fisher from the Center of Michigan in 2013.
