After a slow start in the first half of Week 1, the Buffalo Bills“The pass rush has been dominant early in the season, and national media personalities are raving about their potential this year.
ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky joined the Bills radio program “One Bills Live” this week and complemented the Bills’ defensive line, especially the pass rush.
“It’s been two weeks since the season started, but I think the [Bills’] The defensive line starts to show itself when it gets to Ed [Oliver], [AJ] Epenesa, Greg [Rousseau]and Von [Miller] “In some of those obvious passing situations,” Orlovsky said.
There were concerns about the pass rush heading into the season after the loss of Leonard Floyd to the San Francisco 49ers, but Rousseau has taken his game to another level in Year 3 and Miller looks to be his old self. Add in a consistent force in Oliver up the middle, and that puts their pass rush among the best in the league to start the season.
“I think the way Buffalo is handling Von is really smart… I think Greg is really starting to show himself… Ed obviously had another big game,” Orlovsky said.
According to Focus on professional footballThe Bills have the fourth-best pass-rush rating in the NFL, behind the Detroit Lions, Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns. The run defense has appeared to be in the middle of the pack so far, but it has done enough to put opposing offenses in second- and third-and-long situations. That’s when the run defense comes in in a pinch, with some ending in sacks but most affecting the quarterback’s passing game.
Over the past two weeks, the Bills are tied for tenth in sacks (6) and tied for fourth in interceptions (3).
The Bills’ pass rush will attempt to disrupt the Jacksonville Jaguars’ offense on Monday Night Football, much like the Browns did in Week 2, when they recorded 10 pressures and four sacks on 17 total pressures.
“You don’t want one of those tackles blocking Rousseau or Von alone right now,” Orlovsky warned of the Jaguars’ offensive tackles.
