THE New York Giants The Cardinals will play their second straight away game against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. They will come with the hope of getting their first win of the season, but that is not what they are missing the most.
The Browns are coming off their first win of the year in Week 2 against the Jacksonville Jaguars and are near-favorites for a touchdown at home against the Giants.
New York hopes to continue the improvement seen from Week 1 into Week 2, but will face a tough task against the Browns.
Here are three reasons to be optimistic ahead of Sunday’s game.
New offensive weapon deployed
The Giants let Saquon Barkley leave in free agency and brought in Malik Nabers to be their main weapon in the offense.
In the team’s Week 2 game against the Commanders, Nabers was featured early and often and had a stellar game that proved he was everything he was promised to be.
Obviously Brian Daboll had a plan to get the ball to Nabers as much as possible and we can probably expect the offense to continue to flow through Nabers.
An offensive confidence to rely on
Last week, the Giants’ offense saw a marked improvement, particularly from quarterback Daniel Jones.
Jones came in ready to silence the critics and put in a much cleaner performance than the previous week against the Vikings.
But Jones wasn’t the only one contributing to the performance. The offensive line also contributed a strong performance in the running game, which helped open up the passing game.
Obviously the Giants didn’t come away with a win last week, but they had a lot more to gain and they’ll hope they can carry that momentum into Week 3.
Offensive Line Competence
The Giants’ offensive line has been a work in progress for 15 years, but it’s finally starting to look like something remarkable.
In Week 3, they’ll have the biggest individual challenge they’ve faced so far this season in Myles Garrett, who is one of the NFL’s best pass rushers and can take over a game.
In years past, a player like Garrett would have been a daunting task for the Giants’ suspect offensive line. However, this group may be up to the task. They may not be able to keep Garrett off the scoresheet, but they will be motivated to at least limit his impact on the game.
