Derek Carr’s seventh career NFL touchdown gave the New Orleans Saints a 35-13 lead over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 2. According to Pro Football Talk, the quarterback was also hit in the wallet for his celebration.
Carr reportedly was fined $14,069 by the NFL for a post-touchdown celebration in which he grabbed his crotch — the dance move made famous by pop singer Michael Jackson.
The dance move falls under “unsportsmanlike conduct,” which includes “any violent gesture or sexually suggestive or offensive act.” according to NFL rules.
Carr was not penalized for the celebration.
Why did Carr do that after the touchdown? Because he promised his family.
“People don’t know much about me. … Weddings or birthdays, I’m always dancing,” Carr later said. “I once hit Michael Jackson and [my brothers] They said, ‘Dude, you have to do this if you’re going to score.’
The Week 2 fines have not been officially announced by the NFL.
