THE The Chicago Bears The offensive line has struggled mightily in the first two games and is still looking for consistency heading into Week 3’s matchup against the Indianapolis Colts. However, it appears we could see some changes at right guard.
Right guard Nate Davis was listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game after reaggravating a groin injury in practice, and he has been limited all week.
“He hurt his groin, twisted his ankle a little bit on Wednesday,” coach Matt Eberflus said. “But he was able to work there today. We’ll see how it goes come game time.”
If Davis can’t start, it will likely be veteran Matt Pryor who takes his place at right guard. Eberflus has praised Pryor, calling him “one of our most improved linemen,” and it seems like even if Davis is able to start, we could see a rotation with Davis and Pryor at right guard.
“He’s a big guy, for sure,” Eberflus said. “He takes up space in there. But he’s definitely improved. He’s one of our most improved linemen. I know he’s playing and all that, but we definitely see an improvement in him and what he’s brought in terms of his work ethic, his energy and what he brings as a teammate as well. I’m really excited for him if he’s working out there with Nate or whatever. We’ll see in terms of how he fits in with the game, but he’s really had a good week of work.”
Looking at the offensive line’s struggles so far this season, it’s been particularly vulnerable inside at center and right guard. We’ll see if Pryor is better than Davis, should he take the field.
