GLENDALE — The Arizona Cardinals will be without defensive lineman Justin Jones for the remainder of their Week 3 game against the Detroit Lions.
Jones dated a triceps injury at the end of the first half and will not return.
The veteran, who signed a three-year deal with Arizona last offseason, recorded one tackle before going down. That brings his total tackles to four this year.
Another defensive lineman, Khyiris Tonga, suffered a knee injury that leaves his return in doubt. He had a strong performance with four tackles after starting the game with just one tackle this season.
With two defensive linemen out with injuries, LJ Collier and Dante Stills were likely to run more alongside Bilal Nichols and Roy Lopez.
Stills, who was limited throughout the week of practice with a shoulder injury, was a regular last week but saw 25 defensive snaps in the Week 1 loss to Buffalo.
Collier has seen at least 20 defensive snaps over the past two weeks and earned a start in Arizona’s season-opening loss.
Arizona trails Detroit 20-10 in the third quarter and will need to improve its performance against Detroit’s rushing attack.
After nearly three quarters of play, the Lions are averaging 4.8 yards per carry, reaching 145 yards and a touchdown on 30 carries.
Jahmyr Gibbs leads the Lions’ running game with 80 yards on 13 rushing attempts, while David Montgomery has added 72 yards and a score on 16 carries.
