GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – A former Packers RB wrote a message to the city of Green Bay ahead of its first game at Lambeau Field as an opponent.
On Wednesday, Minnesota Vikings RB Aaron Jones penned a letter to The Player’s Tribune titled “A Message to Green Bay,” just days before the Packers’ seven-year draft pick returns to Lambeau Field for the Packers’ Week 4 game against Jones’ new team, the Minnesota Vikings.
In the letter, Jones recalls his training camp in 2017, where he was one of three rookie running backs selected by the team. Jones was selected in the fifth round, 182nd overall, while current New Orleans Saints Jamaal Williams was selected 134th overall and Devante Mays was selected 238th overall. According to Jones, the WRs had begun “betting” on which of them would be the best RB after camp, and Davante Adams told Jones during a practice, “I had you as a dog in that race.”
Jones also recalls his first NFL offensive snap, when running backs Jamaal Williams and Ty Montgomery were injured, and Aaron Rodgers told him at the huddle, “Hey, I’m one of your biggest fans in this whole organization. This is your time. Your time, now.” That same season, with Williams and Montgomery back from injury, Jones recalls a drive where Rodgers called a timeout and yelled down the sideline, “I WANT 33 IN THE GAME!!! I WANT 33 IN THE GAME!!! 33!!! NOW!!!”
Jones also expressed gratitude to Packers fans for supporting him with things like #FREEAARONJONES and to Packers fans for supporting him after a citation for driving with marijuana in his system during his sophomore year, and for being there for him after his father passed away.
He ended the letter by thanking Green Bay for everything he did during his 7 years as a Packer.
“Thank you. It’s going to be weird being on the sidelines for the first time, and being on the other side of this NFC North thing in general – but it’s ALL love, and it’s so much gratitude. Thank you for ‘betting’ on me, for rolling with me, for betting on me and everything in between.
Thank you for SEEN me.
No G on the helmet Sunday, still one in my heart.
-Aaron”

According to ESPNJones is also considering a Lambeau Leap, if he scores a touchdown on Wednesday.
