THE Wolverines – the reigning national champions – and Huskies meet for the first time as Big Ten foes. And while both teams weren’t as impressive as last season, Michigan lost 13 players to the 2024 NFL Draft and Washington lost star quarterback Michael Penix Jr. to the draft and coach Kalen DeBoer, who left for the same job in Alabama.
It’s not often that last season’s two national championship foes face each other again, but with new coaches, as former Michigan offensive coordinator Sherrone Moore took over for Jim Harbaugh, who now coaches the Los Angeles Chargers of the NFL, during the offseason. Washington is now led by former Arizona coach Jedd Fisch.
Washington will be tasked with stopping Michigan’s high-powered rushing attack, which totaled 290 yards and three touchdowns against USC on September 21. The Wolverines struggled to pass, however, as Alex Orji only managed 118 yards on 30 attempts. last two departures.
The same can’t be said for the Huskies’ passing attack, as Mississippi State transfer Will Rogers totaled 1,354 yards with 10 touchdowns with no interceptions while completing 74.8 percent of his passes in five starts this season.

Michigan vs. Washington Predictions
Here is a prediction for the game, according to The Detroit Free Press’s Michigan beat writer Tony Garcia:
“Knocking Michigan out of any game is insane, but winning this one will be a challenge. It’s a 2,000-mile journey through a hostile environment, against a program that wants revenge for a CFP championship loss in January. U-Dub moved the ball well through the air and Michigan was sensitive to the pass. If UM can’t take an early lead, the last two weeks of difficulty in the second half suggest a potential collapse. Simply put, it’s hard to win at Husky Stadium, where U-Dub has won 17 straight games.“
The choice: Washington 26, UM 20.
