Pittsburgh Steelers right tackle Broderick Jones was fined $11,255 for late salutet on Indianapolis Colts nickelback Chris Lammons during Sunday’s 27-24 loss. Jones was not penalized on the play, instead right guard Spencer Anderson was called for unnecessary roughness. Jones and Anderson both lunged at Colts defenders late after Cordarrelle Patterson caught a short check from Justin Fields for a 5-up.
Anderson was not fined by the league office. Jones made more contact, spearing Lammons in the back after the play. Both were dangerous and unnecessary plays by Anderson and Jones.
The Steelers’ possession finally ended after Anderson’s unnecessary roughness penalty, which put the Steelers out of field goal range. In a three-point loss, this was one of the Steelers’ many mishaps against Indy.
