The Cincinnati Bengals (3-4) have won three of their last four games after a 21-14 victory over the Cleveland Browns (1-6) in Week 7.
After losing their first three games of the season, the Bengals took advantage of a weaker portion of their schedule. That’s what they’re supposed to do given they can’t choose who they play, and now they find themselves within reach of a playoff spot.
It wasn’t the most aesthetically pleasing victory against the Browns, especially since Deshaun Watson and Dorian Thompson-Robinson were both out with injuries. But a win is a win, and they were able to walk away from Cleveland with their first road win since 2017.
Heading into the midseason, the Bengals have a chance to make a run with four games before their bye week.
NFL Power Rankings, Week 8
Despite the division win on the road, the Bengals remained in the NFL power rankings entering Week 8, according to Vinnie Iyer of Sporting News.
19. Cincinnati Bengals 3-4 (19)
“The Bengals are poised to get back into the AFC playoff race by taking advantage of some bad teams on the schedule. Next they will try to handle the Eagles,” Iyer wrote.
Even though Joe Burrow didn’t have too explosive a match, he did what he needed to do to get the victory. He completed 15 of 25 passes (60%) for 181 yards, two touchdowns, no interceptions and a passer rating of 108.9.
Meanwhile, Tee Higgins led the way with four receptions for 82 yards and a touchdown while Ja’Marr Chase also found the end zone to go along with five receptions for 55 yards.
According to Next generation statisticsTrey Hendrickson was seventh among passers with six total pressures while adding two sacks. His four quick snaps were tied for second.
The Bengals will look to continue their winning streak when they host the Philadelphia Eagles (4-2) on Sunday at Paycor Stadium.
