The Cincinnati Bengals need to get some help for Trey Hendrickson as the NFL trade deadline approaches.
Although the front office probably won’t do it, the idea is certainly popular. Hendrickson has played through injuries over the last few years and is the primary source of the pass rush for a defense that just isn’t very good at it.
NFL trade deadline idea asks Bengals to pick up a guy who has already terrorized them this year – New York Giants edge rusher Azeez Ojulari.
The idea comes from Money launderers report:
Part of the problem is a lackluster pass rush that can’t help an injury-plagued secondary. Bringing in Azeez Ojulari could be the boost they need. Ojulari played well for the Giants and had three sacks heading into Week 7. However, he is an impending free agent and they already have a lot of money tied to Brian Burns and Kayvon Thibodeaux.
Ojulari blasted the Bengals during Cincinnati’s Week 6 win to the tune of three presses and two sacks, so they know all too well what he is capable of in a rotation.
While it’s hard to say what the cost of a trade for Ojulari might look like, the fact that he’s 24, a former second-round pick, and on an expiring contract is only outweighed by his struggles to stay in good health since 2022.
If nothing else, it’s an idea the Bengals should consider and probably the type of deal they should consider if they want to become buyers at the deadline.
