Over the past three weeks, the Philadelphia Eagles offense has looked noticeably different in a better way.
They run the ball more consistently and aggressively, making big shots down the field and ultimately moving the ball with purpose, which is a major difference from how the offense operated in the first month of the season.
But why? Has Nick Sirianni handed more responsibility to Kellen Moore, who freed up Ben VanSumeren at fullback? Or maybe the Eagles’ offensive players themselves were successful in pushing for changes, because playing listless football in 2024 after things fell apart in 2023 just wasn’t acceptable anymore.
Discussing the process of reevaluating the offense, Nick Sirianni admitted to reporters Friday that it wasn’t a single thing that spurned the change, but rather a consistent series of internal evaluations.
“Yes, we talk about everything together. We follow our processes together. Same thing, I won’t say this percentage or that percentage or anything like that, but you try to evaluate as a coach what your players are doing well,” Sirianni told reporters.
“You do this based on practice. You do that based on the games and what you’re successful at and what you’re not successful at. You also do this by talking to players. “What do you think of this?” What do you think of this? It’s a both/and thing, and we’re all in this together. We win games together; we lose games together. We find the best answers together. Again, this is why it is one of the best team sports there is.
That being said, Sirianni had some nice things to say about Kellen Moore, who has had a notable impact on the Eagles’ offense, even if they don’t exclusively run his offense like some fans were hoping.

When asked about Moore’s impact on the Eagles’ offense in 2024, Sirianni also celebrated his influence, noting that all of his assistant coaches have helped make the team stronger.

“Yeah, I think [Offensive Coordinator] Kellen [Moore] is a great offensive mind. I know in football, consistency is what you admire and the daily grind, not the ah-ha moments,” Sirianni told reports.
“Especially as coaches. We don’t go out there and make games. But I think it’s just his consistency, his spirit as a football coach. Super sharp. I am constantly looking for ways to improve. I’ll go into his office, and he’s still watching a tape. If I go into his office, he always observes things that also help him grow as a coach. Not necessarily even just a tape of the opponent, but a tape of the league or a tape of – his brother puts out a lot of good football, watching him in colleges.
“I’ve always admired guys who have had the success they’ve had in this league but are always looking to grow. Kellen is at the top. He’s one of the best coordinators in this league. And I will say the same thing for [Defensive Coordinator] Vic [Fangio]. But I’m really happy with these two guys in their daily work. Again, I think it’s about their daily habits and their daily work. I can’t say enough good things about these two guys.
After some initial struggles on both sides of the ball, Moore and Fangio both really took off for the Eagles during the month of October, with Philadelphia posting big numbers and impressive marks across the league over the last three games . While only time will tell if the team will be able to stay the course until the end or even move up a notch or two in the pursuit of excellence, the results so far have been incredibly encouraging.
