KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – It didn’t take much time for new Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins to get on the same page as quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
On Monday night, Hopkins scored his first touchdown in a Chiefs uniform, running a 1-yard score in the second quarter of Kansas City’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Hopkins, who was acquired by the Chiefs on Oct. 23, performed a possible homage to his former team, the Tennessee Titans, with a dance previously seen in the movie “Remember the Titans.” Kansas City acquired Hopkins for a conditional fourth-round pick.
“It’s one of my favorite movies,” Hopkins said of “Remember the Titans.” “I knew if I got in the end zone, I was going to hit the ‘Remember the Titans’.”

Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and offensive linemen Wanya Morris and Creed Humphrey joined Hopkins in the celebration.
The touchdown came after Hopkins and Mahomes connected on a 35-yard pass on 3rd-and-8. Hopkins had six receptions for 66 yards in the first half. He finished the game with eight receptions for 86 yards and two touchdowns.
