It became clear over the past few recruiting cycles that Notre Dame was targeting football family lines.
The Irish have had several former, current and future players whose fathers played in the NFL, and on Tuesday night they added another in 2026, linebacker Thomas Davis Jr.
The son of Thomas Davis, the former NFL linebacker for Carolina Panthers, Los Angeles Chargers And Washington Football Team is one of the top prospects in the country, ranking 146th overall according to the 247Composite sports rankings.
Davis is the Irish’s first defensive player in the class, joining quarterback Noah Grubbs and wide receiver. Dylan Faison in what appears to be another impressive collection of talent assembled by head coach Marcus Freeman.
Davis Jr. also has an impressive offer list, as well as Clemson, Auburn, LSU, Michigan, Ohio State and a host of others also vied for his commitment.
