The Philadelphia Eagles improved to 8-2 with a 26-18 victory over the Washington Commanders (7-4) in Thursday Night Football.
The Commanders led for much of this game despite a slow offensive performance. Quarterback Jayden Daniels struggled for the second straight game, completing 22 of 32 passes for 191 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Even though Daniels’ final numbers were pretty decent, he rarely threw the ball downfield and his accuracy was still poor.
Washington’s defense played well, helping the Commanders maintain a 10-6 lead early in the fourth quarter before Eagles running back Saquon Barkley broke away for two touchdowns in the fourth quarter. At this point, the Eagles gained momentum and never looked back. While Philadelphia quarterback Jalen Hurts was sloppy, it was a dominant overall performance from the Eagles, especially in the trenches.
How did X – formerly Twitter – react to Washington’s second consecutive defeat? Let’s look at some of these reactions.
The Commanders lose in Philadelphia. First two-game loss of the season.
The offense has clearly taken a step back against the varsity defenses. Daniels struggled tonight.
Just a tough time? The problem of the second half of the season at Kingsbury rears its ugly head? Are Daniels ribs a problem?

Thoughts on today’s loss in Philadelphia:
• Jayden’s worst game, by far. I don’t think he’s in good health at all. I couldn’t push the ball down the field all night. He looked hesitant to run. I don’t know if it’s the ribs, or the hand, or both, but he’s not right.
• I thought DQ and Cliff combined to…

No need to collapse tonight. Show some resilience. This is the NFL and every team faces adversity.
The Commanders are still a playoff team with a favorable schedule moving forward.

You all deserved another year of Heinicke or Sam Howell. A bad game hurts and everyone turns on JD5. Forget everything he did in three months for us. It completely changed the trajectory of our franchise and earned us respect and that’s how you treat it 🤣 this fanbase…

The effort was there. The desire was there. But the Commanders were worked on both sides of the line of scrimmage tonight by the Eagles. They have improved immensely, but not yet to the level of elite teams. Ten days of rest to prepare for the race, starting in Dallas.

Two very unpleasant matches in five days. Difficult. But we were only able to feel this way because things were going much better than expected. Everyone is resting.

It’s a divisional game on a short week on the road. This is as planned a loss as possible. That’s not much of an excuse, but in the end we’d go 7-4 at the start of the season. I think optimistically.

For a team that has fought for every second all season, this is a strange time to hit the quit button.
