To this point in the season, Washington Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels has been by far the best first-year signal-caller in the league. However, last night on Thursday Night Football, Daniels showed signs of slowing down during what has been one of the best rookie seasons in recent memory.
While Daniels wasn’t terrible that night, it was certainly a far cry from what we’ve seen so far in the season. Daniels was ultimately held to 191 yards through the air and just one touchdown while being stopped on the ground with 18 yards on 7 carries. Daniels also threw a game-sealing interception late in the fourth quarter to punctuate his struggles.
With two straight games in which Daniels was more or less shut down, he hopes to bounce back and continue where he was earlier in the season. The Commanders are clearly in a good position under Daniels, but as teams figure out how to defend him more, games like this are inevitable. Daniels will look to bounce back next weekend against another division rival in the Dallas Cowboys.
